Members of the Oyster value Chain Stakeholder Advisory Committee (OSAC) recently visited the Permanent Secretary Buba Sanyang at the Ministry of Fisheries, Water Resources and National Assembly matters. The meeting was aimed at briefing the Permanent Secretary about the work of the committee.
Welcoming the committee, the Permanent Secretary Buba Sanyang outlines the importance of oyster in the fisheries sector. He said his ministry is ready to build a stronger partnership with the oyster farmers in the country. “As a ministry we have an open- door policy,” the Permanent Secretary said.
The committee comprised officials from the Department of Fisheries, Department of Parks and Wildlife, National Environment Agency, TRY Association and communities that are involved in oyster farming in the country.
OSAC was form with the support of FISH4ACP a Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) initiated project to support oyster farmers.
